Tallahassee –

The Florida Highway Patrol will be conducting saturation patrols on December 31, 2010, throughout the eight counties encompassing Troop H. The counties included are Taylor, Madison, Jefferson, Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla, Franklin, and Liberty. Operations will begin at 7:00 PM New Year’s Eve and conclude at 3:00 AM New Year’s Morning. Other troops throughout the state are conducting similar operations during the New Year’s Holiday period.

The saturation patrols or “wolf-packs” will concentrate on impaired drivers. Realizing the dangers of impaired driving, the Florida Highway Patrol wants to educate the public, remove impaired drivers from the roadways of Florida and help ensure a safe driving environment for all of Florida’s citizens. A DUI “wolf-pack” helps address all of the above mentioned needs. The Florida Highway Patrol is participating in the nationwide campaign, “Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest”.

The motoring public is reminded to call *FHP (*347) to report impaired drivers or any other hazard on the roadway.

The Florida Highway Patrol would like to wish everyone a Happy & Safe New Year!

Thanks to the FHP, local PD's and Sheriffs.Stopping a person for DUI is taking a "loaded weapon" off the streets. Don't let your families and friends start the New Year having to attend a funeral.
