The Georgia Department of Transportation says it holds meetings annually to show tax payers where their money is going, as far as roadworks projects are concerned.

GDOT displayed upcoming projects for District Four -- which includes Decatur, Colquitt, Grady, Thomas, and Brooks Counties.

The district also includes Ben Hill County, which is where Scott Downing is from.

Downing says he drove the 80 miles to Camilla for the meeting because he wanted to be 'informed.'

Explains Downing, "We're just trying to see what's coming up in the future and what might be done. The ones that we do have on the list are pretty important -- near and dear to our heart[s]."

Most of the projects revolve around building or revamping bridges and repaving stretches of highway.

GDOT engineers say the most common feedback comes in the form of people asking why road works projects take so long. They say pre-planning is required all projects, and that can add time.
