Tallahassee, FL - This Sunday is St. Patrick's day where everyone claims to be Irish. But multiple groups in Tallahassee want to make sure that everyone is safe after the celebrating, too.

Law enforcement and local activist groups both told me the same thing: They want people to enjoy the St. Patrick's Day holiday. But they don't want the celebrating to cost anyone their life.

The message about drinking and driving on St. Patrick's Day is the same as any other day, but groups like Mother's Against Drunk Driving are concerned about someone losing their license as well as someone losing their life.

Kristen Allen, MADD Florida: "St. Patrick's day is one of the most dangerous holidays that we see on the roads, just because people are taking the risk of drinking and then getting behind the wheel."

MADD's Kristen Allen says there is a spike of DUI traffic fatalities during the holiday.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data backs that up, stating that two out of five fatal crashes between 2006 and 2010 involved a drunk driver on the St. Patrick's Day holiday.

Brenda Smith, AAA: "We want to keep that potential drunk driver safe as well as the innocent people that could be coming in contact with that drunk driver."

The concept is simple: If you think you've had too much to drink, dial 855-2-TOW-TO-GO and AAA will make sure that both you and the car get home safe!

Brenda Smith, AAA: "Our cabs are designed for two people and the driver, they will take this person and their vehicle home, that's the only place they're going to take them."

The Tow to Go service is open to both Triple A and non Triple A members.

Other options, of course, include designating a driver or calling a cab. The Tallahassee Police Department will also be increasing its patrols in high volume areas as well this holiday weekend.
