Report from the Florida Highway Patrol:
On July 4, 2012, at approximately 7:23PM, several law enforcement agencies received multiple calls in regards to a silver BMW driving extremely erratic traveling westbound on Interstate 10 in Madison County.
The BMW, according to the callers, was speeding up then slowing down, honking the horn, and it attempted to run one of the callers off the roadway several times. A Trooper attempted to stop the BMW
in the area of the Greenville exit, but the BMW sped up. While the Trooper was attempting to stop the BMW, the driver was throwing items from her purse out of the vehicle. The vehicle continued traveling westbound through Jefferson County, and an unsuccessful attempt to stop the BMW with stop sticks was made near exit #225. The pursuit continued westbound through Leon County, and at the Leon / Gadsden County Line a Sergeant with the Florida Highway Patrol was able to successfully deploy his stop sticks causing the driver’s front tire to puncture. The BMW continued traveling westbound on Interstate 10 in Gadsden County and the vehicle eventually had to stop due to mechanical issues near the 177 mile marker. The female driver was taken into custody without further incident. There were no reported crashes or injuries as a result of this pursuit, and the only damage reported were tires resulting from the use of stop sticks.
The Madison Co. SO, Jefferson Co. SO, and Gadsden Co. SO assisted FHP with this incident.

The callers said that the driver of the BMW was speeding up, then slowing down, honking the horn, and attempted to run one of the callers off the roadway several times. While a Florida Highway Patrol trooper was attempting to stop the BMW, the driver was throwing items from her purse out of the vehicle. The chase continued through Leon County. The woman from Tampa, whose name has not been released, was eventually taken into custody.
