Motorists traveling SR 61 (US27) Monroe Street between Perkins Street and Thomas Road will continue to encounter night-time delays from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m., Sunday, March 6, through Friday, March 11. Intermittent lane closures will take place in the northbound lanes of Monroe, between Perkins Street and Oakland Avenue while the contractor replaces sidewalk and curb ramps. The contractor is lowering manholes and vales between Oakland Street and Thomasville Road; north and southbound lane closures are taking place.
This work is part of the $2.5 million contract to resurface Monroe Street, repair sidewalks, replace non-compliant curb ramps and pedestrian signal features throughout the project limits. Capital Asphalt is the prime contractor for the 280-day project.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to use caution while traveling through the construction zone, speeding violations double when workers are present.
