Chipley – Beginning Monday night, January 31, Monroe Street commuters can expect intermittent lane closures between State Road (SR) 61 (Thomasville Road) and Perkins Street. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) recently awarded Capital Asphalt a $2.5 million contract to resurface Monroe Street, repair sidewalks, replace non-compliant curb ramps and pedestrian signal features throughout the project limits. The 280-day project will be constructed at night between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The contractor will not be permitted to close sidewalks between Gaines Street and Tennessee Street February 14 through May 13, the weekend of FSU and FAMU home football games, or during Springtime Tallahassee and holidays.

Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to use caution while traveling through the construction zone, speeding violations double when workers are present.
