Tallahassee, FL - Speed up, or move over. Slow driving can now cost you...

A new law signed by Governor Scott says the left lane on highways should be reserved for faster drivers within the speed limit.

For years, Florida has had those signs. They say 'Slower traffic move right. ' But, Governor Rick Scott signed a bill yesterday making it illegal to drive too slow in the left lanes.

According to the new law, anyone driving 10 miles per hour below the speed on the left lane can be fined for going too slow. Especially if they are being overtaken by another vehicle coming from behind them.

The Florida Highway Patrol tells us the fines could be up to sixty dollars for violators of the new rule.

There are exceptions to the rule however. Such as when drivers slow down as they prepare to turn left at intersections or on exits they are getting off on.
