Lanes closures will occur in the north and southbound lanes of Monroe Street from Tennessee Street to Thomasville Road Monday, May 9, through Friday May 13 from 8 p.m. and until 7 a.m. nightly . The closures will allow the contractor replace sidewalk and curb ramps at various locations.
The contractor will also be setting up lane closures in the north and southbound lanes of Monroe from Perkins Street to Gaines Street to pave the roadway. The closures will be take place Monday, May 9, through Friday May 13, from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. nightly. The work is part of a $2.4 million resurfacing project from Perkins Street to Thomasville Road. The project is scheduled for completion late this year.

Motorists traveling Monroe Street will experience intermittent lane closures in the northbound lanes, Sunday, February 27 through Friday, March 4. Crews from Capital Asphalt will replace sidewalk and curb ramp between Perkins Street and Oakland Avenue. The contractor will continue to lower manholes and valves between Oakland Street and Thomasville Road. The contractor will be lowering utility manholes and valves. Motorists can expect lanes closures nightly from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m.
This work is part of the $2.5 million contract to resurface Monroe Street, repair sidewalks, replace non-compliant curb ramps and pedestrian signal features throughout the project limits. Capital Asphalt is the prime contractor for the 280-day project.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to use caution while traveling through the construction zone, speeding violations double when workers are present.
