News Release: FDOT
Chipley – The Florida Department of Transportation is constructing a new bridge on State Road (S.R.) 373 (Orange Avenue) in Tallahassee. Beginning Monday, June 2, Orange Avenue and the St. Marks Trail will close to all traffic, vehicular and pedestrian. The roadway will reopen fall 2014 prior to the start of the new school year in Leon County. In addition to the replacement of the Orange Avenue Bridge, the $1.6 million construction project calls for replacing the roadway approaches on each end of the bridge, drainage improvements, bike lanes, new sidewalk along the south side of S.R. 373 and improvement to St. Marks Trail directly under the bridge. Access to all businesses will be maintained east and west of the bridge.
S.R. 373 traffic will use Orange Avenue, Springhill Road, Capital Circle SW and S.R. 61 (Crawfordville Road). St. Marks Trail traffic will use Pasco Street, Holton Street and Taylor Street.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. For more information, follow the Florida Department of Transportation District Three on Twitter @MyFDOT_NWFL.
