Press Release: City of Tallahassee
Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, a one-block portion of W. St. Augustine Street will be closed beginning at Woodward Avenue. The closure will last about two weeks. The road will be reopened prior to the Florida State University home football game on October 5.
During the closure, crews will be performing work on underground utilities, including sewer, water and gas. Crews will also be constructing sidewalks, curbs and gutters and slightly smoothing the sharp curve that currently exists in the road to create a safer environment for pedestrians and motorists alike.
As W. St. Augustine Street is a one-way, eastbound road along this portion, traffic will be detoured at the light at Woodward Avenue either north to Jefferson Street or south to Gaines Street. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the closure. Access will be maintained for local residents.
