Tallahassee, FL -- December 26, 2011 11:20pm

The Leon County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a single car accident at the corner of Almeda Drive and Buck Lake Road at around 10:30 Monday night.

LCSO deputies say traffic was slowed while the scene was cleared but traffic should be returning to normal soon. Deputies tell WCTV that a single car crashed into a stationary block of mailboxes and that two people were sent to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

No word yet on what caused the accident and what the exact status of those who are being treated.

I was at the scene of the accident and one of the officers said he believed the driver had an asthma attack and ran off the road. There was a whole family in the car, it didn't look like a case where any alcohol was involved, so all of the know-it-alls should clam up.

@The other anonymous- What happened to fatique, poorly lit roads, reasons for an accident? Don't know about you but most of us are exhausted from cooking, cleaning, shopping, decorating, wrapping, traveling to see family, etc...and we do not drink. Give people the benefit of a doubt first before guessing at a reason.

One in three crash deaths involve alcohol. 147 million self-reported episodes of alcohol related driving occur every year.

@ anonymous. It also could have been a medical problem, not alcohol. I have heard of people driving with medical problems.

These comments always get out of hand. People just use them to get hot air off their chests. They are filled with criticism and negativism. No one should assume anything before getting all of the facts. Honest mistakes DO HAPPEN you know. Thank God the people were not seriously hurt.

Where did Alameda come from? String of mailboxes? You need to get your facts straight before reporting. It was Walden/Buck Lake and one mailbox involved.

@anonymous, I have two questions for you.First, why do you assume that the accident was alcohol related? Do you have some insight into this event that we don't? (i.e. are you a police traffic officer who has first hand knowledge of this specific accident?) There are many possibilities as to the cause. It could have been mechanical failure, it could have been road conditions and yes, it could have been driver error....but why automatically assume the worst? Second, if you are so convinced of your opinions, why do you feel the need to post your drivel under the pseudonym(I know it's a long word, look it up!)Anonymous? Some of history's worst cases of character assassination have been carried out under that nom de plume.

Why do you assume that alcohol was not involved? Alcohol use is as good a theory as anything else.

I don't assume anything, I wait until the investigating agency conducts their investigation and announces their findings. Making an assumption from a news article is flawed and short sighted...nowhere in the report was anything mentioned about alcohol being involved. Had there been such a statement, the issue would not have been in doubt. As it was not, I prefer not to engage in speculation.

why ask a cop? If the investigation is ongoing, they are prohibited by law from telling you anything anyway. Why not just wait to read about it or see the story on the T.V. news?

We had a similar crash recently in our neighborhood. Either Johnny Walker or Jim Beam was at the wheel.
