The first checkpoint will begin at 8:00PM along the 1700 block of Hermitage Blvd. The second checkpoint will be located along the 3300 block of Connor Blvd and will begin at 10:00PM. The purpose of the checkpoints is to detect drivers who are too impaired to operate a motor vehicle, or those operating a vehicle without a drivers license, and to detect vehicles with faulty safety equipment. The checkpoints will be well marked by signs, marked patrol vehicles, and uniformed officers. The checkpoints are designed to have minimal impact on traffic and to save lives.

The police post where these checkpoints are going to be so that some drunk cant claim that it was a setup and get off. It is is the newspaper, so it will keep some away; but most drunkies dont think about it when they are out drinking -- TPD go get em!

Hey Police! Why don't you this every day and keep the location "close to your vests", as you like to say. If you are going to tell the violators ahead of time, why bother? How dumb is that?

You should do the Check Points on West Tennessee Street by all the Bars between 2:00am and 3:00am.

What is the purpose of announcing these kind of checkpoints? "Hey drunkies, we're going to be waiting for you at THIS intersection - so if you're too impaired to drive, you need to find a different route home. Good luck!"
