Tallahassee, Florida - July 26, 2011 -
The Tallahassee Police Department will conduct two safety checkpoints on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. The first checkpoint will begin at 8:00PM along the 1700 block of Hermitage Blvd. The second checkpoint will be located along the 3300 block of Connor Blvd and will begin at 10:00PM. The purpose of the checkpoints is to detect drivers who are too impaired to operate a motor vehicle, or those operating a vehicle without a drivers license, and to detect vehicles with faulty safety equipment. The checkpoints will be well marked by signs, marked patrol vehicles, and uniformed officers. The checkpoints are designed to have minimal impact on traffic and to save lives.
