Tallahassee, FL - Leon County announces a temporary lane closure of west-bound Apalachee Parkway (U.S. Highway 27) beginning approximately one mile east of the main entrance to the Leon County Solid Waste Management Facility/Apalachee Regional Park.
The lane closure will take place Friday, October 5 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, October 6, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The closure was approved by the Florida Department of Transportation due to the high volume of traffic expected to be entering and exiting the Leon County Apalachee Regional Park facility as a result of the 2012 Florida State University Cross Country Invitational/Pre-State Meet.
Approximately 2,500 runners will compete over the two-day event and additional traffic is expected from spectators.
This event is the precursor to the NCAA South Region meet on Friday, November 9 and the Florida High School Athletic Association State Championship meet on Saturday, November 17.
All necessary warning signs, variable message boards and coning will be installed.
