Ten Car Accidents on I10 within Four Miles Produce Many Injuries, Some Serious
Jacksonville, FL, October 5, 2012 3:40 pm - the Jacksonville Regional Communications Center received numerous calls of multiple crashes on I-10 East of U.S, 301 and West of SR-23.
Preliminary Information is 13 Troopers and 25 Officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigated 20 traffic crashes in a four mile area involving approximately 53 vehicles. 18 people were transported to area hospitals by Jacksonville Fire Rescue.
Eastbound I-10 was closed at U.S.301 and westbound lanes were closed at SR 23. At 6:00PM eastbound lanes were open and all westbound lanes we open by 8:30 PM.
Weather was a factor in these crashes as it was reported by drivers involved that heavy rain was occurring at the time of the crashes.
