Press Release: Florida Department of Transportation

Chipley – Motorists can expect lane closures Wednesday, Sept. 18 and Thursday, Sept. 19 on Tennessee Street (U.S. 90) near Adams Street in Tallahassee. Lane closures will remain in effect from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m.

Construction crews plan to work Sunday night through Thursday night along the project corridor to resurface Tennessee Street between Ocala Road and State Road 61 (U.S. 27/Monroe Street). In addition to resurfacing, the project calls for sidewalk repair, curb ramp replacement and pedestrian safety improvements that include a pedestrian barrier, two signalized mid-block crosswalks, access stairs/ramps from Tennessee Street to Florida State University and pedestrian signal features.

To minimize impacts along the corridor, construction activities involving lane closures will be performed at night. There will be no lane closures on FSU and FAMU home game weekends or during other major activities and events. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. While one lane of traffic will be open, drivers and pedestrians can expect temporary delays.

All construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to pay attention and use caution when driving through the work zone.
