I repeat, this was not an accident. Poor judgment on one or the other party cannot be stated as an accident. The headline is WRONG!! You can call it a collision but to say something is an accident is to say that no one is to blame. Clearly there is blame on the part of the driver pulling out on to the street. Motorcyclists for the most part are not idiots so stuff it.

I think everyone should be required to have a motorcycle license (and ride a motorcycle) for at least a year before getting a driver's license. People would be much more careful when driving a car...

I, too pray for the motorcyclist's recovery. While the info about the motorcyclist wearing a helmet and driving the speed limit is interesting, since the car pulled out of a parking lot and hit him, I'd like to know if the car driver on talking on their cellphone, texting, eating a sandwich, messing with their hair, reading the paper, or changing clothes?

I can drive a half ton truck, but get pulled over for not wearing a seat belt...someone driving a motorcycle..on 2 wheels...doesn't have to wear a helmet. It just makes no sense to me. With that said, I hope the kid is ok.

You can be killed in a car, on a bicycle, or even walking. Yes riding a motorcycle increases your chances but it's the risk some of us take. Just like the risk you choose to take by getting into your car every day. Or getting on a plane. Every one always has something to say about the motorcyclist... People make mistakes every day. Could have been YOU in your CAR that hit the kid. I'm pretty sure your not perfect....If anything MOST not all but MOST motorcyclist are MORE catious of you in your cars texting, talking, eating, being DISTRACTED than you ever thought of while being in your car. It's not the bushes fault, or the motorcyclists. Should the car have made a left turn there? Probably not but at the end of the day, it's called an ACCIDENT- sometimes your just in the wrong place at the wrong time.....

I sincerely hope this young man makes a full recovery. Right, wrong or indifferent, you take a serious chance everytime you ride a motorcyle, they are unforgiving. I gave up my bike 20 years ago, and I miss it, but I have seen about 100 detch from motorcycles since then. I really hope this guy can make it.

TO MIKE- IT'S EASY TO SAY CUT IT YOURSELF... THAT'S CITY PROPERTY AND YOU CAN'T JUST GO AROUND TRIMMING THE BUSHES OR PICKING FLOWERS THAT YOU LIKE FROM BESIDE THE ROAD ETC ETC. YOU GET ARRESTED, GET A GRIP SOMETHING DOES NEED TO BE DONE... AND ON ANOTHER NOTE ANY ONE WITH COMMONS SENSE SHOULD KNOW THAT A LEFT TURN OUT OF THAT PARTICULAR FAMILY DOLLAR IS TOO MUCH OF A HAZARD IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. JUST LIKE THE DUMMIES WHO INSIST ON TURNING LEFT ON MONROE WHEN COMING OUT OF THE LAKE ELLA PLAZE AND THE CUMMIES WHO TUEN LEFT ONTO MONROE TO GO SOUTH COMING FROM LAKE ELLA. THEN THEY WONDER WHY THE CAR IS SMASHED. SOMETIMES IT'S SAFER TO GO THE LONG WAY.... NOW THAT'S STUPID.
