Tallahassee, FL -- The Florida State University Police Department will be conducting two DUI checkpoints on campus the evening of March 13th, 2012. The first will be held on W. Jefferson St. in front of Dorman Hall from 9:30pm to 11:00pm. The second will be held on Murphree St., from 11:30pm to 1:00am. The operations will kick off a week long effort of enforcing impaired driving laws.
FSUPD has recorded 14 DUI arrests so far in 2012 by its officers due to continued focus on enforcement of impaired driving. Analysis of arrest records has indicated that fewer than half of DUI arrestees on campus are students.
“Our community is dedicated in keeping impaired drivers off the roads to keep our streets safe.” said FSU Police Major Jim Russell. “We want to spread the word widely about the dangers of impaired driving”.
