Vehicle Strikes Pole on Tennessee Street

A single car accident slowed down lunchtime traffic on Tennessee Street.

Tallahassee Police officers on scene say the driver of this silver car was heading east near Varsity Plaza when she hit a telephone pole and lost control.

The telephone pole snapped at the base. The car flipped at least once.

One lane remained closed for much of the afternoon while Utility workers repaired the electric line.

Witnesses told police the driver was not speeding.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was taken to TMH with minor injuries.

Tallahassee, Florida - June 7, 2011 -

TPD is working a traffic crash in the 1800 block of West Tennessee Street. A vehicle struck a utility pole and wires are down. Westbound W. Tennessee Street will re-open momentarily, with at least one lane closed as City Utility crews repair the electric line. There were no serious injuries related to the crash.

The affected area was between High and Stadium.

Our reporter on the scene says a car traveling east lost control and hit a telephone pole and flipped once. The pole snapped at the base. The driver is okay, but was taken to TMH complaining of chest pains. She was wearing her seat belt. The pole snapped at the base.

TPD is working the accident. Police say she was not speeding. All westbound lanes are now open, but one lane will remain closed as crews clean up the scene.
