This checkpoint will be dedicated to the memory of Shakeila Vickers, Vincent Vickers, and Tyler Biggins. All three lost their lives last year on St. Patrick’s Day at the hands of an impaired driver in Tallahassee.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says two out of five fatal crashes between 2006 and 2010 involved a drunk driver on the St. Patrick's Day holiday.
Rolling lane closures will occur in the eastbound lanes of I-10 at mile marker 197.1 in Tallahassee from 9 p.m. Monday, March 18 to 2 a.m. Tuesday, March 19 to allow crews to install Dynamic Message Signs.
Alternating daytime lane closures will take place from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12 in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 (I-10) from mile marker 200.6 to mile marker 204.6.
In conjunction with the improvements underway on Capital Circle Northwest/Southwest there will be intermittent lane closures along the eastbound travel lane of Gum Road.
The westbound outside lane of U.S. 90 from New Bethel AME Church to Hilltop Drive in Gadsden County will be closed from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, Monday, March 11 through Saturday, March 16 to allow trucks to enter and exit the project site.
