Tallahassee, FL - September 27, 2012 8:20 pm

Tallahassee Police Department Officer Melissa Laursen was traveling westbound on Southride Road when a tree fell on her patrol car.

Officer Laursen was temporarily trapped in her vehicle by the power lines entangled in the tree but officer Laursen was not injured in the crash.

However, her patrol car did receive extensive damage.

Southride Road remains closed while utility crews remove the debris and restore power to the area.

The roadway is expected to be opened for traffic at approximately 9pm.
