Florida State Rep Gets Probation

VIERA, Fla. (AP) _ State Representative Bob Allen won't serve prison time.

The Republican from Merritt Island was sentenced today to six months of probation for agreeing to pay for oral sex with an undercover officer in a men's park restroom. Allen also has to pay a $250 fine.

He was found guilty last Friday of soliciting a prostitute. He faced up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.

Titusville officer Danny Kavanaugh claims Allen offered him $20 to perform oral sex on the undercover officer in a bathroom at a Titusville park in July. Kavanaugh testified that he wanted to watch Allen walk up to the bathroom so that he knew what he could expect.

But Allen's attorney, Greg Eisenmenger, says the representative only went along because he feared being robbed.
