ATLANTA (AP) _ King Day in Atlanta will be mixed with presidential politics.
Republican hopeful Mike Huckabee will attend the Martin Luther King Day memorial service on Monday at Ebenezer Baptist Church. He is the first of the presidential candidates to confirm that he will be at the tribute in the church where King preached.
Democratic presidential hopefuls will also be making the pilgrimage to Atlanta on the weekend before the holiday. John Edwards will be in the city Friday. Barack Obama is expected to be in town Sunday, although his campaign has not confirmed his schedule.
Huckabee will return to Atlanta on Tuesday for a Georgia Right to Life rally outside the state Capitol.
The former Arkansas governor leads the Republican field in Georgia, according to a recent poll commissioned by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The poll, from Mason-Dixon Polling Research, had Huckabee with 31 percent of the vote. John McCain was second with 18 percent.
