Anti Abortion Exhibit at FSU's Student Union

A very graphic anti abortion display at Oglesby Union compares abortion to historical genocide. The exhibit creator, the Center for Bio Ethical Reform says abortion relates to the definition of genocide. It also says it targets students because they are the future leaders and decision makers. But some were offended by the gruesome images.

One student said, "No matter what, having a child is a risky procedure. It's a risky thing to do because many things can happen and so you should be able to have control over what happens to your body."

Mark Harrington with the Center for Bio Ethical Reform said, "You don't believe that the unborn are persons. Well, that's what they said about the Jews, that's what they said about the African Americans, right? It's the same argument just being lived out here in America."

The exhibit called the Genocide Awareness Project tours public universities throughout the country.

This display did nothing but upset students, it was gross, and unnecessary. Obviously this stuff happens when you kill a fetus. You don't need to subject others to this grotesque material. There are other ways to call attention to your perspective without looking like a total weirdo (which is what those people working with this display looked like to a good majority of the student body). I'm pro choice, however I personally would never get an abortion. It's a personal and private choice, and not everyone has the same belief system. Deal with it.

It's really sad that this is the only way to get people to look at abortion for what it is. But it is. No mainstream media outlet will publish these pictures, so there is no other way than to take them around and protect them behind a barrier. They've had plenty of vandalism and attempted vandalism, even with the barriers in place. Many people do not want these pictures to be seen by anyone.

Abortion has ruined my life. I experience eating disorders and major relationship problems, it caused my divorce. In all honesty, it has taken me 26 years to unravel what an afternoon in hell at the abortion clinic which thrust me into a lifelong nightmare. I would do anything to reverse the act, it plagues me constantly. It has broken my spirit, ties to family, bonding with little children. There is no relief, other than completely surrendering to God, and for that I am grateful. The trauma of an abortion never ever leaves you. It changes you so profoundly. Very wicked on the emotional and spiritual level. I encourage every woman to reject abortion. It just isn't worth it. For a couple years you might be ok, but sooner or later it gives you a cancer that ruins you.

Late-term abortionist George Tiller of Wichita recently presented to the NEA(yes teachers!) pictures of babies that he had aborted. Why is it wrong for pro-lifers to show graphic pics of unborn children killed by abortion, yet the pro-aborts show these SAME graphic pics and give the abortionist a standing ovation??? I am pro-choice; I choose life. What is the opposite of life???.....Women don't even get to meet this abortion doctor until their legs are up in the air straddled in the stirrups; if women see these pics of unborn children and how brutal and offensive this abortion decision is, most clinics would cose around America; Planned (un)Parenthood should not receive ANY more federal dollars; they take in TONS of $$$ from their abortion centers, literally millions and millions of $$$ a year. CBR simply has thrown this 'behind the closed door procedure' out in the public to debate and since people are resonding both positive and negatively, they are doing their job!

If I had been allowed to see even ONE of these graphic murals 27 years ago, I would be enjoying dinner with my child this week. But, because I believed the LIES told to me by Planned Parenthood..."it's not even a baby yet, don't worry"....I ordered the murder of my own child. I have NEVER been able to forgive myself for that and I've never spoken to another woman who has aborted a baby who doesn't feel exactly the same way. The Law SHOULD require these murals to be pasted all over the outside of every single baby-butchering factory in the country. No more babies would be killed then. I think only Democrats and Liberals should be allowed to abort their babies and have to live with the terrible agony and heartache for the remainder of their lives, since they are the ones who are out there fighting so hard to keep this barbaric child-murdering practice legal.

In response to "anonymous", I did not say I'd LOVE to see these murals about our streets. In all honesty, I can't stand the sight of them either. However, some may never know what they are voting for until they are forced to look upon such abhor. I am terribly sorry that you have experienced a loss like that. Just think, those pictures could save a child's life. I know story after story of people who have gone in to have an abortion and before they did, they were forced to see what abortion is and what it does and it changed their minds and spared a life. Now, I'm not saying to put it up on every billboard and sign, but I'm simply stating that it could save a child's life. I'm sorry if I've offended you or anyone else. That is not my intention. God bless you.

In response to "unknown".....I agree murder is terrible. However, when you've had to go through what I and other mothers have...Please come back and comment that you'd LOVE to see these murals about our streets.

Perhaps these "ridiculous murals" will open eyes. Some people don't necessarily realize the brutality of abortion and I understand that it is a difficult thing to behold, but it's truth and fact. I'd much rather be appalled and grieved over the truth than believe a lie and see more infants murdered and dismembered daily. Do the people really know what they are voting for when they vote pro-choice? It could be an infants only hope. It's real, and it's gut wrenching I know. I am deeply saddened that there are even photos that reflect what occurs during an abortion, maybe showing them will change people's minds and make them realize how utterly terrible such a murder is.

To add to the comment from "wil".....There was a man driving a truck in Georgia who had similar pictures posted on his vehicle...He was ARRESTED! Congrats to Georgia for having the decency and compassion for their citizens and not allowing this man to subject people to ridiculous murals.

As a mother who has had to deal with the death of a newborn...and in defense of all those mother who've dealt with Miscarriage or loss of a child...WE DO NOT WANT TO BE SUBJECTED TO THESE PHOTOS...I understand that these particular groups are trying to make a statement...but can you PLEASE make this statement without such graphic images in the public areas that everyone has to see. If you want to publish facts and statistics...fine...even post a way to VIEW these images. But please, respect those who have had to experience seeing their infant, or fetus, in a way no mother should have to...and take down these and respect your fellow community members.
