One problem in maintaining the infrastructure is a possible lack of funds down the road. The American Society of Civil Engineers says it will take ten billion dollars a year for the next 20 years to maintain and improve the infrastructure. The report shows that the worst grades were D pluses for schools and energy. The average for Florida's infrastructure was a C. Lack of funds for improvements could mean more taxes, but can people afford it?

Bill Zepernick, a Tallahassee resident said, "You need roads, you need schools, you know, you can't just and ultimately expect the state to keep up with the rest of the country."

Charles Blakeslee, another Tallahassee resident said, "Taxes are already a huge burden on a lot of people, I think taxes should remain the same."

One representative from Orlando says a possible source of funds could come from additional taxes on gas, but that may not sit well with consumers.
