Are We Safer Today Than We Were 7 Years Ago?

Are we safer now than we were seven years ago? Michael Chertoff says the answer is yes.

The Secretary of Homeland Security gave a speech on terrorism

And our Nation's Security one day before the anniversary of 9-11.

Secretary Chertoff said America's actions at home and overseas, along with our allies, explain why the enemy has not attacked the US.

But he cautioned the threat remains real.

Secretary Chertoff pointed to the London bomb threat in 2006 and airlines leaving England planned to bomb North America.

He said if it happened, it would have been a loss of life similar to 9-11.
