Dee Dee Rasmussen was sworn into her new post Tuesday night (09/23/08) at the school board meeting. Rasmussen won the seat vacated by Fred Varn in the August election. That term doesn't begin until November, but Florida Governor Charlie Crist recently appointed her to the board so she could fill the seat now.
"My family and friends have worked so hard for this day actually and for the Governor to appoint me early is an honor. I'm happy to take on the challenge. We have a lot of work to do and we might as well get going," says Rasmussen.
Florida Supreme Court Justice Fred Lewis administered the oath of office and Rasmussen began work on the board Tuesday night (9/23/08).
