One project along the Gaines Street Corridor in Tallahassee may be one step closer to becoming reality.
City officials say the project will be allowed to use about four acres of land off Gaines Street along Railroad Avenue.
the location would house a "Arts Exchange" where artists can live and work and will also include a theater, shops and restaurants, but organizers must raise about 33 million dollars to use the land.
"The city would be willing provide them with the property at no cost if they could demonstrate that they could actually raise the funds necessary to build and operate the improvements," says Michael Parker, the Assistant Director for Economic and Community Development.
City officials say organizers have two years to show they have the funds or financing to successfully develop the land.
