I have lived in the county for a good while now and had always heard rumors about Harvey, but until I got a divorce from my first wife and married a local girl whose family has been in the county for generations, did I find out that most of the rumors were true. She was previously married into one of the " good ole boy" families and she saw first hand how it works. He was nothing but a drug head and got away with it because of his last name,(which is a relation to Harvey). So all you people who voted for Harvey are either blind or are some kin to him, and it has got to stop sometime and now is as good a time as any.

I'm a 6th generation Wakulla citizen - born & raised. My state law enforcement husband & I proudly raise our kids here. The difference between me & other "natives" writing on this site? My family doesn't own half the County and isn't related to half the County. Which means I don't have a "get-out-of-jail" free card as do the other "natives". Why is the crime rate low in this County? Things get pushed under the rug, crimes are 'taken care of' behind the scenes, and we happen to live in a peaceful County with generally nice people. IT IS NOT BECAUSE HARVEY IS SUCH A GREAT SHERIFF! Since I was a little girl I have heard numerous stories of what the Sheriff, his staff, his friends and family have done and gotten away with. He's been Sheriff for way too long. He's used his money & name to gain too much power & used that power to attain even more money. It's a vicious circle that needs to END! We ALL deserve a fair and honest Sheriff! Does Harvey even know what "ethical" means?

the recount has not happen so why is everyone attacking each other we still do not know who the sheriff is and if harvey or creel wins and you don't like it there are ways to get over it either move or move on because complaining will not do any good. I think either one will be just fine as sheriff.

In response to Mrs. Wakulla: First of all I don't think anyone is degrading the Deputies of Wakulla County. They are only degrading the high Sheriff and the overpopulated command staff who may have been decent law enforcement officers once upon a time, but then forgot how it was to be in the trenches. Everyone loves the Deputies of Wakulla County. Everyoine just thinks they nned a new HONEST boss. Im the Rabbit and I approve this message!!

Okay I do not know David Harvey personally but the dealings I have had with the sherriff's office leaves me to believe without a doubt there is corruption in the Sherriff's office. No I do not have proof but from the dealings I have had with them it does not take a rocket scientist to see that something isn't right. He may be a good man but from my personal dealings I don't trust him or the Sherriff's office. As for those asking why I don't leave there are several reasons why but in all honesty that wouldn't have to be an issue if the sherriff's office was on the up and up.

SORRY SORE LOSERS! The Great David Harvey shall remain.I've been here in this county for 40 years.I think The Sheriff has done a magnificent job and he has trained some fine law enforcement officers and must be commended. I've never been so proud of my Sheriff and lucky to live in a great county. I am though, appauled at all the citizens of this county degrading him and his deputies. I thank god they were there in times of need. They risk their lives for us and you are ungrateful, and disrespectful. Shame on the people that make up such stories. Sheriff Harvey has always been there for everyone. That is why this is such a great county because Sheriff David Harvey helped make it that way. Enough said.

there is no need to insult people over the election of the sheriff. There is no gain in hurting people's feelind and making people angry, you only cause problems.

Hey Catherine, What do you know about Leon County Sheriff????? I worked for Campbell for 3 years and he is the kindest man I have ever met.. He at least does traffic stops and is LEO Certified, Harvey can't even do a traffic stop because he is not certified. And no a sheriff does not have to be after 2 years of service. do a little research on what a sheriff has to be. Campbell does more for his people than any other Sheriff I know

Was the Supervisor of Elections office closed and windows shuttered this morning or is this just a rumor?
