Controversy surrounding the proposed biomass plant in Tallahassee isn't going away, and Tuesday it was a hot topic at the Leon County School Board meeting.
Several Tallahassee residents took turns explaining their position on the proposed plant.
A representative of Florida's Department of Environmental Protection told the board that the department spent months investigating the proposal.
But then a succession of citizens, one after another, urged the board to take a stance *against* the plant... all saying it would pose a danger for the community... especially for the three schools within a one mile radius of the proposed site for the plant.

Kudos to Jim. Everyone wants something but wants to pay nothing. We can keep buying terrorist oil or actually do something to get off of it. Hell, I'd love to see solar panels on every house in the country. As soon as a homeowner did it they would get threats from there "homeowner's association" gestapo president that they are posing an eyesore for the community. Wake up people. You can't pull power out of a hat! It may be cheaper now because of the economy but you can bet that it'll be back at $4.00 a gallon in the future.

The key is to keep emissions to a minimum. When we talk about energy efficiency and alternative energy we need to let it be in our back yard, too. Not a NIMBY here

You all oppse everything!!! First coal now this. I'd take the smell vs a 500.00 utility bill anyday of the week! It's because of all you activist that our economy is where it is today. For once, step outside your self-centered world and look at what's best for THE WHOLE!

I realy hope they dont build this plant, i live down the street and I will hate the smell and the potential noise, plus there is an dissabled living comunity literaly a couple street adresses down from where they plan to build it! How would you like to live right next to a burning trash pile, and not have anywhere else to go! and of course going along with the article, what about the kids at sable palm elem? would you want your six year old breathing in fumes in P.E. and recess? i dont think so.
