NEW YORK (AP) At the urging of its students, the Ludlum Elementary School in Hempstead on New York's Long Island has been renamed Barack Obama Elementary.

The vote by the Hempstead Union Free School District was
unanimous and effective immediately. Efforts to rename schools,
parks and streets after Obama are under way elsewhere, but
Hempstead officials think their school is the first to carry the

Principal Jean Bligen says most of the 466 students at Barack
Obama Elementary are black or Hispanic and take Obama's election as
a big source of pride.

And there are naming honors for the president-elect not just in
the U.S. The prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean
wants to rename Boggy Peak, Mount Obama.

Affirmative action has made it all the way to the White House. He sure didn't get elected on his resume or credentials. I honestly wouldn't have a problem with it if he were qualified for the job.

You people who think Obama will bomb in office need to stop being racist. The majority of you are just saying that because hes black, and y'all are nothing but racist pigs. Let him begin his presidency first and then judge him later on. I think he is what this country needed, not another Bush!!!

To Anonymous: Isn't it ironic that you wish for something like that but take a look at your life. You are a pathic human being. That much hatred in your heart. The reason why they named the school after him because this is an historical event. Whether he does good or not he still made it and thats the reason why they named the school after him. How stupid are you? Remember reguardless wherever you are in life there are always the other race not to far around. Frankly I'm proud that he made it. I'm white and I voted for him.

Grow up people. This is ridiculous. Wait and see what and how he does and then start naming things after him if it is still important to you. I did not vote for this man, he was NOT the best answer for our country, and when he bombs in office, people are going to regret ever having named anything after him. Especially all of those idiots out there who are naming their kids Barack. Get a grip and wake up.

I hope Obama bombs out in office and becomes the worst President ever. I just want to show all these morons that they jumped the gun on renaming things simply because he is black.
