Some Tallahassee residents won't have to wait for utility cost relief... thanks to a new program.
"The Good Neighbor Energy Assistance Program" will help
low-income senior citizens, low-income families with small children and low-income disabled persons with their utility bills... during the winter and summer months when bills are the highest.
The program uses 1-point-2 million dollars the city received from a wholesale energy refund.
"It was a collaborative effort on all of the agencies here in town to work with the city to make sure that this $1.2 million got out back to the community - help those citizens," says Patricia Jimenez, the program's administrative supervisor.
The "Good Neighbor Energy Program" will begin in December.
The Capital Area Community Action Agency (CACAA) will determine whether individuals qualify for the program. You can contact CACAA at (850) 222-2043.
