Obama Makes More Top Picks

CHICAGO (AP) Obama is nominating California Congresswoman Hilda Solis to be labor secretary.

Solis is a daughter of Mexican and Nicaraguan immigrants and has
focused on immigration and the environment while serving in the
House since 2001. She's also known as a tenacious advocate for
workers' rights.

Republican Congressman Ray LaHood of Illinois is Obama's choice
for transportation secretary. LaHood, who is retiring from the
House after 14 years, would be the second Republican in Obama's
Cabinet.

Venture capitalist Karen Mills from Maine has been selected to
head the Small Business Administration.

And former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk is the president-elect's choice
to be U.S. trade representative. Kirk is a Dallas lawyer who was
the first black to be elected the city's mayor. He's described as a
skilled negotiator.
