Applications to fill a local judge position are now being accepted.
A judge seat in Florida's second circuit opened up when Nikki Clark was appointed to the First District Court of Appeal.
Applicants must be registered voters, members of The Florida Bar for the past five years, and live in the Second Judicial Circuit.
The Judicial Nominating Commission will screen the applications and send three to six names to Governor Charlie Crist.
The chair of the Commission must receive all applications by February 17th by 4pm.
Applicants must send an original and nine copies of the completed application to 2477 Tim Gamble Place, Tallahassee FL 32308.
The JNC first meet on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 to select a vice-chair, discuss deadlines, the appointment process and receive copies of the applications.
The second meeting will be on Tuesday, February 24. JNC members will discuss issues regarding the applications including results of background checks.
Interviews of applicants are scheduled for March 9 and 10.
