Health care and labor advocates are calling on U.S. Senator Mel Martinez to back the economic stimulus package.
Though Martinez says he’s undecided about how he’ll vote.
If the plan passes, Florida could receive as much as 29 billion dollars for roads, schools and health care.
Janette Wynn, the President of the Florida American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees, says the labor groups mean business.
“We are for real, and we are going to let them know we elected them, and we expect them to support Florida. With this economy in Florida we can’t afford to have them vote no,” Wynn says.
The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on its version of the economic stimulus plan by February 16th.
The groups are asking supporters of the package to call or email Senator Martinez.
