TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Crist met Tuesday with officials representing auto racing, baseball spring training, fishing, golf, college sports, the Orlando Magic and others to talk about how sports helps Florida's economy.
He was told that the industry is weathering the economic
downturn well. People are still coming to Florida to golf and fish,
and the state is attracting events ranging from a national girls
volleyball championship to the Super Bowl.
Larry Pendleton, who runs the Florida Sports Foundation, told
Crist the sports industry will help Florida's economy recover.
