WASHINGTON (AP) -- On the day of the deadline for Americans to file their tax returns, President Barack Obama will talk about restoring fairness to the tax code and providing tax relief to working families.

The president is also making preparations for a trip that will take him to Mexico and the Caribbean.

Obama travels Thursday to Mexico City. The stop is a clear signal of support for President Felipe Calderon as the U.S. and Mexico grapple with the deadly flow of drugs and weapons hurting both countries.

Obama will spend Friday through Sunday in the twin-island Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago for the Summit of the Americas, a gathering of 34 Western Hemisphere nations.

Patrick, you said it plain and clear. I paid in over 5k this past year and still had to pay more. I also know many who paid less than 1k and got back 6k. How in the heck can these people want the higher tax bracket to pay more when they get back 3 to 6 times what they paid in. If you want a fair tax, then have everyone pay a certain percentage and that's it. let's say 10 to 15%. No loopholes, no deductions, no dependants, just a straight tax. Everyone pays the same according to what they make. Also homeowners should be taxed on the first 25k, get the homestead on the 2nd 25k, then more people would share the tax burden. I'm like Patrick, I'm tired of paying in so much and seeing bottom feeders get out of paying thier share. All need to share the burden. But we will have to wait and see if any change will be made, people will forget by next year anyways.

Out of all states, Obacon originated from the most corrupt political system there is...ILLINOIS. Obacon took hundreds of thousands of dollars from folks he is now bailing out while living on taxpayer dollars. I hope Blago tears Obacon's cronies apart in his trial. He mentions tax relief to hard working families...I dare anyone to go out and make over 200k a year, in a legitimate job,and then turn around and tell me they didn't have to work hard to get it. Tax relief to middle class doesn't mean crap when inflation hits. He's implementing ways to give money to people for nothing and charging hard workers for it.

this talk will not affect our anger towards the unfair taxation in this country. The citizens are pi$$ed. There are people, and lots of them that not only DO NOT PAY taxes but actually get money handed to them at tax time ! This is a crime against the working people of this country. Your too late Obama and no one is buying the carp your selling !

hahaha, print, spend and tax. I hate to see what fairness will be, we were told we would get $1400 back, instead 4 to 8 hundred over the next year. what's it going to be this time, another couple of dollars for hard working people and another 25 dollars a week for unemployement benefits. You never know what to expect from this administraion.
