TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ The Florida Legislature will meet in a
rescheduled special session next month.
Senate President Ken Pruitt and House Speaker Marco Rubio say in
a joint statement that the agenda for the October third to the 12th
session will be announced next week. But they say a "significant
progress has been made to establish a general framework for
reducing state spending.''
The Legislature needs to cut the state's 72 billion-dollar
budget as the state's tax revenues are expected to have a one and a
half billion-dollar shortfall in the current budget year.
Earlier this month, Pruitt and Rubio canceled a special session
that would have begun this Monday. They said lawmakers and the
governor had not agreed on a basic framework for cutting Florida's
