TALLAHASSEE, FL - U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson Wednesday will be in Tallahassee where he'll be meeting with various state lawmakers.

A likely topic of discussion will be various election reform measures, including proposals by Sens. Darren Soto (D-Orlando) and Jeff Clemens (D-Lake Worth) to broaden voter access in the Florida. Soto wants to allow students to use university facilities as early voting sites; Clemens wants to allow online voter registration.

"Passage of measures like that would be a small but fitting tribute to Gov. [Reubin] Askew, who loved teaching our students and who championed voter participation," Nelson said.

The federal lawmaker, after his meeting in the state Capitol, will be going to a memorial service for the late former governor at Faith Presbyterian Church, 2200 N. Meridian Rd., Tallahassee.
