Valdosta, GA - Early voting for the 2012 general election is underway in Georgia.

The polls opened this morning at 8 am, but according to election officials crowds were already lined up at 7:30, and were non-stop until the polls closed at 5 pm.

Early voting from 8 to 5 will continue until October 26th. On Saturday the 27th the polls will be open from 9 to 4. The last day to vote will be on November 6th from 7am to 7pm.

In Lowndes county there are free rides to the polls being offered. Democrats and republicans each have their own buses. You can call the board of elections to find out how to use this service, as well as find out where your local polling station is. Go on our website WCTV for that number.

In order to vote you need a government issued photo id card.

Valdosta, GA - Early voting for the 2012 general election is now underway in Valdosta. This is the first day of early voting and election officials say they've been busy since the polls opened at 8am. More than 100 Lowndes County residents have already cast their vote. Officials say there's been a steady crowd since 7:30am and expect it to stay busy all day.

Early voting from 8am to 5pm will continue until the 26th. On Saturday the 27th the polls will be open from 9am to 4pm. The last day to vote will be on November 6th from 7am to 7pm.

For voters in the Peach State...
There is at least one early voting location in each Georgia county.

Voters will be required to show one of the required forms of photo identification, such as a driver's license or a valid U.S. passport.

The number of early voting locations may increase in some counties closer to the November 6th election day.

Georgia officials have predicted a big turnout for early voting.

Georgia legislators changed the law before the 2008 presidential election so that anyone could vote early within 45 days of the election without having to state a reason.
