Tallahassee, FL -- June 4, 2012 --

In an attempt to create jobs, Governor Rick Scott spent Monday with leaders from some of the smallest and poorest counties in the state.

"We've got to continue to focus on all counties, but these rule counties have struggled."

In Gadsden County concerns were raised over the rising cost of Medicaid and a new law requiring counties to pay a higher share of the entitlement.

"The Medicaid issue we are dealing with, we've got to make sure we do it fairly."

Scott told the crowd, including State Senator Bill Montford, the Agency for Health Care Administration will work with them to ease the pain.

"The state agency will take a look at it, he is encouraging the clerks of the courts and other leaders to step forward and say 'here is a problem.' I'm convinced the governor will do what's fair."

"From here Scott headed to Jackson County where the focus shifted to education."

School funding and access to new technology are just two of the concerns voiced by these community leaders. Scott touted higher revenues than expected for 2012 and says any extra money the state collects will go to education.

"What do you want as a parent? What you want is you want your child to get a great education and part of that is how is your school doing."

In total, Scott met with leaders from six different counties. Along the way he dangled a 100 million dollar carrot. The money is set aside for economic development and any Florida community small or large that can show a 500 percent return on the investment.

Scott also told county commissioners to call him personally if they have any problems the state can handle and asked them to take an active roll in recruiting businesses to Florida.
