Obama and Romney Shake Hands at the First Presidential Debate

Tallahassee, FL - A CBS News Poll of uncommitted voters shows Mitt Romney won last night's Presidential Debate by a 2 to 1 margin.

Now we're hearing what local political consultants have to say about the debate.

Kevin Cate is a former 2008 Obama Spokesperson, and Evan Power is from the Republican Party of Florida.

Denver, CO - President Obama and Mitt Romney shook hands at the start of their first debate. The two nominees faced off at the University of Denver, in a discussion focused on domestic issues - in particular, the economy.

Are we going to double down on the top-down economic policies that got us into this mess or maybe it's time for a new economic patriotism," said the president.

"I know what it takes to get small business growing again - to hire people. I'm concerned about the path we're on is unsuccessful." said Romney.

The president and Romney also sounded off on taxes.

"I will not under any circumstance raise taxes on middle income families," said Romney,

"For 18 months he's been talking about this tax plan and now his big bold idea is :never mind," countered President Obama.

The T.V. audience for this debate is expected to be more than 50 million, but with the race so close, both candidates are interested in reaching the relatively few voters who have not yet made up their minds.

Each argued his plan for the future of Medicare.

"What I support is no change for retirees or near retirees - the president supports taking 716 billion from the program," said Romney.

"When you move to voucher system you are putting seniors at mercy of those insurance companies// and if medicare falls apart they are stuck," said Obama.

The candidates will debate two more times - next up is a town hall meeting at Hofstra University in New York. The Vice Presidential nominees will debate next week.
