Tallahassee, FL -- February 6, 2012 --

A bill that would shift public-health responsibilities from the state to the counties and affect 12,000 state Department of Health employees has cleared a House panel.

The House health and human services quality subcommittee approved the bill (HB 1263) by a vote of 7-3.

Hanging in the balance are 12,000 jobs in the department. Bill sponsor Matt Hudson says many of those workers likely will be transferred to county health positions. The Naples Republican's bill gives block grants to counties to do public-health work the state does now.

The panel's vice chair joined Democrats in opposing the bill. Ronald "Doc" Renuart of Ponte Vedra Beach says he had concerns about how the measure might affect smaller counties.

In this scenario, funding would be much less of an issue because the county health departments only receive about 180 million from the State each fiscal year. Most of their funding comes through Medicaid, local fees, and federal grants (in which they can apply for themselves). 180 million spread amongst 67 counties is not very much at all. The biggest dilemma is how the local governments will absorb the personnel from the county health departments. The positive is maybe the county health departments can concentrate on providing the core service that we all expect them to provide without the State looking over their shoulder with every move they make.

Here's a headline that should scare the pants off ya: "Reid to lead second effort to expand executive branch authority over Internet... " If they dump all the health depts on counties, and we have an outbreak, there is no statewide person to put it all together. And no internet to help. THE WH WANTS CONTROL OVER THE INTERNET. DO YOU SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING YET?

They want the citizens to pay for the illegals!...thru vouchers and local health depts. Not only that, but WHEN they decide to spray us with anything, we won't have the facilities to help anyone. And if we riot, they will use force to take our guns away. DO YOU SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING YET???
