Voter turnout for the primaries usually remains lower than the general election. However, Leon County usually ranks among the highest turnout when it comes to the other Florida counties.

We have less than two hours before the polls close. Folks have been hitting the polls throughout the day.

There's a chance we could see a rush as people get off work, but for the most part there haven't been many lines at the polls. Almost eight thousand people have already voted early in person in Leon County alone this year. Eyewitness News spoke with two young voters that cast their ballots for the first time and we asked them what the experience was like and why some folks their age don't hit the polls.

"It was pretty cool getting to pick out and getting to show like getting to experience your right as a person to vote as an American to vote for who you want to represent you," says young voter Michael Rayner.

"They probably don't think that their vote counts and that they don't really represent everything or stand for anything but I think that's wrong that you should express what you believe in and it does count," Austin Cunningham, another young voter.
