Leon Democratic Party Hosts Election Night Party

Supporters of Obama and Democratic Candidates will gather at The Moon for final GOTV effort and to watch election returns

Tallahassee- On Tuesday, November 6, the Leon County Democratic Party will host an election night party at The Moon. Local Democratic candidates and their supporters will join President Obama's supporters to participate in a final phone banking activity and to watch the election returns.

A donation of $5 is suggested to help defray costs.
The event will begin at 7 p.m., when attendees will be asked to participate in a final hour of phone banking to Florida's Central Time Zone counties. While the polls in Tallahassee and most of Florida will close at 7 p.m. ET, voters in Central Time Zone cities like Pensacola and Panama City will be able to vote until 8 p.m. ET. As such, phone banking at The Moon will be one of the last Get-Out-the-Vote activities in Tallahassee for the 2012 elections.
"Florida's presidential election could be very close, so we need to strive for every last vote," said former Leon DEC Chairman Rick Minor, who is organizing the event. "We're asking people to arrive at 7 p.m. and call Panhandle voters for one, final hour. This election is too important to be left to chance, and this last push could make all the difference."
At 8 p.m. the Panhandle polls will close and the event will then focus entirely on the national and local election returns. Attendees will be asked to contribute a suggested donation of $5 to help defray costs.


As the polls close and the votes are tallied, Al Lawson, candidate for U.S. Congress in Florida's second district, is hosting an election returns watch party at The Mint at 215 West College Avenue at Kleman Plaza (in Tallahassee) from 7pm - midnight.


According to Akin Akinyemi's Facebook page, the Leon County Commissioner At-Large candidate will spend Election Night at Sharkey's Coffee and Bistro in the High Point Tower Lobby (106 E. College Ave, Tallahassee, Florida 32301).


District 9 Florida House of Representatives candidate Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda will host an Election Night Thank You Party Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 7 to9 PM at Ketcham Group Realty located at the corner of Thomasville Rd. and Beard Street in Midtown (Bill Gunter of Rogers, Gunter, Vaughn has graciously agreed to let people park in their lot at 1117 Thomasville Road, which is two doors south of the party). The party will host live music, food, and refreshments.


Leon County District 1 Commissioner Bill Proctor, The Southside Arts Complex and the MLK Foundation of Florida, Inc. invite you to an Election Night Watch Party on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. The party will begin at 7;30 p.m. at the Southside Arts Complex located at 2525 South Monroe Street. Food vendors will be on site.


The Republican Party of Florida will host an Election Night Watch Party at its headquarters located at 420 E. Jefferson Street in Tallahassee beginning at 7 p.m.


Leon County Commission, At Large, Group 1 candidate Mary Ann Lindley will be at Cabo’s Island Grill & Bar (a.k.a. Cabo’s Tacos on Apalachee Parkway) starting around 7:00 pm.


Larry Campbell, Leon County Sheriff Candidate, will be hosting a watch party at the Antique Car Museum, 6800 Mahan Drive Tallahassee, FL 32308.
