Mitt Romney has gone from a six point deficit against President Obama in March to a 47-41 point lead. The poll also finds that if Romney were to pick Florida US Senator Marco Rubio as his running mate, the pick would add two points to Romney’s lead. Peter Brown of Quinnipiac says Obama lost both men and women voters who believe Romney will do a better job handling the economy.
“Women went from strong Obama to even. Men went from even to strong Romney. Don’t look at it as what changed women. It’s what changed voters. What changed voters is a cap on economic optimism. Romney clinched the nomination, Republicans came home," says Quinnipiac University Pollster Peter Brown.
Most Floridians do not believe the Gay marriage issue is important in deciding their vote. To win, Brown says Obama must win independents, turn out you voters and turn out black voters in the same or larger numbers than four years ago.
