Tallahassee, FL - September 15, 2012

Today at 2:30p.m. student supporters and volunteers will gather for a sign making party at Obama for America-Florida’s Tallahassee Office Student Office ahead of First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit to Tallahassee on Monday.

Throughout the day, volunteers will be out in force registering voters and talking with them about what’s at stake in this election. With just less than a month left until the voter registration deadline, OFA-Florida volunteers continue to ensure everyone has the chance to make their voice heard in November, going block-by-block and neighborhood-by-neighborhood across Florida registering voters.

On Monday, September 17, at her grassroots event Wednesday, the First Lady will speak about what’s at stake in this election for Floridians and encourage them to help organize their communities between now and November. As part of the campaign's new It Takes One effort, the First Lady will ask every supporter to help grow Obama for America's national grassroots network.

President Obama understands that Americans have a choice in this election between two competing visions of how to grow the economy, create more jobs and pay down the debt. President Obama has already cut taxes for a typical family by $3,600 since taking office – helping families send their kids to college, buy their first home, and pay for health and child care. The President also placed issues that matter to young Americans at the forefront of his first term by doubling Pell grants for students in need, ending the war in Iraq, repealing the discriminatory “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, and reforming the student loan industry. President Obama has committed to fight for the middle class and those striving to be in the middle class, because he believes that everyone deserves a fair shot, and an economy built to last, created from the middle out and not top down.
