Tallahassee Womens Club to Host Candidate Forum and Suffrage Party

Tallahassee, Florida- August 2, 2012

A candidate forum and 'suffrage' party will be held Saturday, August 4, from 2-4 pm at the Los Robles Woman's Club in Tallahassee. The Woman's Club will be celebrating the fight for the women's right to vote, and members will be dressed in period costume representing Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Lucretia Mott (along with other "suffragettes"). These suffragettes will speak to guests about the suffrage movement. Displays will depict the events and leaders of the suffrage movement and Ion Sancho, Leon County Supervisor of Elections will speak on the importance of voting.

"Elizabeth Cady Stanton" will be the MC of the candidate forum, which will start at 2:15. Many candidates will be in attendance, including: Sen. Bill Montford, opponent John Shaw, running for Florida Senate District 3 ; Fred Varn, Emily Fritz, Mary Ann Lindley, and Akin Akinyemi, running for City Commission At-Large, Group 1; Bob Fulford and Steve Stewart, running for City Commission Seat 1; David Riddle, City Commission, Seat 2; Bob Inzer and Cynthia Turner, running for Clerk of the Court; Larry Campbell, Lisa Sprague, and Tommy Mills, running for Sheriff; Jackie Pons, Superintendent; Josephina Tamayo, and Chris Dunn, running for 2nd Judicial Circuit Court Judge, Group 2; and Bert Bevis, running for Republican Committeeman.

Following the forum, guests can enjoy a meet and greet with the candidates. Refreshments and snacks will be served.
