Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards has admitted to an extramarital affair while his wife was battling cancer.

He denied fathering the woman's daughter.

Edwards told ABC News that he lied repeatedly about the affair with a 42-year-old woman but said that he didn't love her.

He said he has not taken a paternity test but knows he isn't the father because of the timing of the affair and the birth.

What's ironic is that when this story was initially revealed by The National Enquier, liberals on television and on political messages boards were crying "hoax" and blaming it on the usual "vast right wing conspiracy" theory. Now that this story has been validated we here the lefties go "everyone does it". Sorry, but you can't have both ways libs.

Did they just have "Presidential Sex"? Also - the proper contraction for "you all" is "y'all" - just thought y'all would like to know!

Anonymous I have a news flash for you WOMEN CHEAT TOO. And to anyone who wants to bash the Southern Baptist heres a news flash for you all relegions have hipocrites but I don't think any has more than the holiness church. One last thing women who are married to powerful men always forgive them otherwise the wife would lose her social standing.I guess they feel like it's better to be a member of the country club and hailed for her ability to forgive than it would be to divorce him and be a loser

I personally don't know why the news goes on and on about this. I'm sure it hurt Mrs. Edwards very deeply. One newscaster referred to her as having "terminal cancer". While cancer is not a death sentence, the word 'terminal' means fatal. How sad that we have to delve into their personal lives. People don't seem happy any more unless they are slinging mud. And yes, Idiot, some people can have all their needs met with just one mate. It takes the maturity and commitment to work at a happy marriage that is fulfilling to both parties.

This guy was running for President of the U.S. His life was/is under a lot of scrutiny. Having the affair is not the problem, it's lying about it and trying to cover it up. This is the same thing Bill Clinton did and Bill did it in the White House. This is not a Democrat/Republican issue. Pople who have affairs get caught. Edwards got caught!

Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission. This whole marriage/ holy union monogamous thing is not natural for humans. Someone show me in the bible where people got married. Most of those guys in the bible had several wives and the ones that didnt just couldnt afford it. Shoving some implied moral standard on peoples sexuality has created a mindset that has made that beautiful feeling that we all know as love a constrained and bridled finacial agreement and has socially anchored a natural emotion and made it a taboo thing to feel a certain way about a new person in our lives. No one can be everything to one person. I'm in no way advocating permiscuous behaviour. I am saying we should all realize we can't control what others do or say and being honest about our own sexuality doesnt make us bad animals.
