An estimated 250,000 Floridians will receive up to 20 weeks in additional unemployment benefits thanks to the economic stimulus dollars.
The state has already received 10,000 applications from people seeking to extend their unemployment benefits.
Agency heads met with Governor Charlie Crist today to discuss how the money is being spent. The state has already dolled out millions of stimulus dollars, but Crist says more needs to be done.
"The team that is assembled here, I couldn't be more proud of their great work. But, we're going to try to continue to do more and more for the people that we work for," Crist says.
The state’s economic stimulus website has been flooded with visitors. The site, www.flarecovery.com has received more than 650-thousand hits.
