1/2 c unsalted butter
1c all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. Baking powder
1/8 tsp. Baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1c packed light brown sugar
1 tsp. Pure vanilla extract
1 large egg
2/3 c chocolate chips
2/3 c pecans or walnuts, toasted and coarsely chopped


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8" square pan with non-stick spray. Cut a square of parchment or wax paper to fit the bottom, set aside.

Melt the butter in a microwave safe bowl and let it cool to room temperature.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour,baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl stir the brown sugar and vanilla into the melted butter, then stir in the egg.

Stir the melted butter mixture into the dry ingredients, then fold in the chocolate chips and nuts. Scrape the batter into the prepared pan. Smooth the top and bake for about 30 minutes, until slightly puffed in the center. Remove from the oven and let cool completely. Cut the blondies to desired size. Enjoy!
